04 - The Scale

"No, no, no, no, no! You're throwing it all wrong!!!"

The Scale had spent decades training his harpoon fishing technique, and he wasn't going to let the Stranger sully it with her foolishness.

It was disgusting. *This* was the one that cursed him? The blight on the world? The most dangerous prisoner in the universe? She couldn't even hold a spear!

"I was built for swordplay, not fishing." she signed.

"Is that so? Well, *I* was built to be a normal human, not a mass of flesh fused to a diving suit!"

"Point taken."

She reeled back her spear, braced to throw, and started scanning for targets.

The spear left her hands, cutting a path straight through the air as it flew towards it's destination.

Unfortunately, it's destination was about five metres away from her target.

No matter. She reached for her holster, and started unloading the backup plan into the fish. Every shot hit dead center.

"You can't do that! You're desecrating the sacred rules of spearfishing! Fool! Idiot!"

She re-holstered her pistol, and turned to the Scale.

"It worked, didn't it?"

The fish lay dead, floating on the surface. It was by far the biggest catch of the day.
